About Me

Hello, my name is Jory—I am a licensed Psychologist and have worked in the mental health field for 30 years in several capacities. From hospitals, treatment centers, community mental health, universities, teaching/supervisory capacities, and I have encountered the same themes emerging over and over again. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and exploring what might be some of their barriers to peace and joy.

I work with adults and am passionate about guiding clients who are struggling with trauma, addiction, grief, men’s issues, attachment, relationship dynamics, shame, and self esteem.

How I Work

“People make sense,” is one of the truest psychological expressions you will find. Issues in life may be complex and frustrating, but with compassion, exploration, and healing, you will find that growth and true joy is very possible. Many times, our struggles have their origins in trauma, pain, grief, shame, and even anger. Moving away from symptom management might be the most important step in getting your life back. This takes time, patience, and often has more long-lasting impacts, leading to deeper healing.

I will help you understand many of the nuanced mental health aspects of your life better. We can explore trauma, addictions, compulsive behaviors, shame, and any other mental health struggles that are limiting your life. You might be surprised just how centrally linked these are.

Clinical Orientation

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed and humanistic framework. People experience emotional pain in several ways and therefore healing takes many forms. At the core, healing happens when people have safe spaces to explore, learn and grow. That is what I aim to create with each therapy experience.

I use a combination of approaches in my work, based on what clients need. These approaches include aspects of:

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Several different theories of trauma

I currently work with individuals ages 18 and up and am affirming of people of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. I am currently working with individual clients only.

A Bit About Me

When I’m not in the therapy room, I prioritize my family and new experiences. I’m often out golfing, hiking, traveling, adventuring, reading or doing crosswords. I have a passion for learning and a deep desire to truly understand humanity. I am dedicated to challenging antiquated systems and ideas about people.
