Understanding the Process
Yes, your privacy is protected by law and our professional ethics. There are specific limitations to confidentiality, including risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of children or vulnerable adults, court orders, and insurance billing requirements. Your therapist will discuss these limitations in detail during your first session.
We use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that encrypts all video sessions. We recommend you find a private location for your sessions where you won't be overheard. Your therapist will conduct sessions from a private, secure location as well.
No. Your participation in therapy is completely confidential. We will not disclose any information or confirm your involvement without your written consent through a Release of Information (ROI). The only exceptions are the standard legal and ethical limits to confidentiality, as outlined in our Base Behavioral Health Intro Packet.
