Philosophy and Approach
My counseling approach is integrative and draws from person-centered approach with a focus on relational dynamics, mindful awareness, and somatic processes. I explore with clients how social, cultural and environmental systems influences their lives. As well as considering the individual’s stage of development, strengths and motivations and the unique one makes meaning of the world to conceptualize the individual and the problems they are navigating. I take a strengths-based collaborative approach, learning from clients what they need to thrive, and find balance between self-acceptance and working on what is not serving them anymore. I emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship and openness for clients to increase self-awareness allowing healing to unfold from within. Ecopsychology: Based in stress-reduction and attention restoration theories, an eco-psych lens speaks to the innate, symbiotic relationship with nature and the value of it in our emotional health. I work with teens, adults, families and couples.
