Philosophy and Approach
As a therapist, my philosophy is grounded in the belief that every individual has the inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery. I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment that is safe, compassionate, and empowering, where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. I view each client as a whole person, considering their emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. This holistic perspective allows me to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. I utilize an integrative approach, drawing from various therapeutic modalities, including Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). This allows me to provide flexible and effective interventions that align with each client's unique needs and preferences.
I recognize the importance of cultural identity and its impact on one's worldview, values, and therapeutic journey. I approach counseling with cultural sensitivity, acknowledging and respecting the diverse backgrounds of my clients, including their racial, ethnic, and cultural identities.
Education and Experience
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Portland. I earned my Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from Pacific University. The privilege of working in residential adolescent settings has provided me with extensive experience working with youth and adolescents who have co-occurring disorders in individual, family, and group counseling settings. I am also a Registered Alcohol and Drug Counselor who is still working on certification.
